Selection Criteria

  1. Alignment with our perception of the values of our shul (e.g. addressing human needs such as hunger / poverty / exclusion, supporting peace-building and fostering coexistence, reaching the under-served, supporting religious pluralism or addressing gender-related injustice, protecting the environment of Israel).
  2. Balance meeting urgent needs of today and building the sort of future we hope for in Israel.
  3. Fill a niche that bigger funders might not reach, and our modest funding could make have a major impact to which our congregants can relate.
  4. Ensure a high proportion of the money goes directly to the identified project.
  5. Value of long-term relationships vs. a competitive process for small pots of money.
